Snoop’s Merry Jane site a pot party
Snoop Dogg has introduced a new addition to his marijuana investments: his upcoming Web site, Merry Jane.
Dogg (left) made the announcement at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco last week.
The threeday gathering brings together new startups, technologies and key figures in the tech industry. On stage, the rap star de scribed the site as a media, education and entertainment platform for marijuana enthusiasts.
Other big discussions at the major conference included the development of a GoPro GPRO drone and Facebook’s “click to message” ads.
Snoop Dogg said the Web site is intended to be a comprehensive resource for all things marijuana, and will help bring the practice of cannabis consumption into the mainstream.
“There are so many people in the closet, and we are giving them an opportunity to come out of the closet and just admit they like to smoke,” he said at the conference. “I’m a smoker — my name is Snoop Dogg, and I’m a stoner.”
Merry Jane will feature a cooking show on how to make marijuana edibles, editorial content and a cannabisstrain and dispensary database. There will also be a show about people’s first experiences with mari juana, called “Deflowered,” featuring exclusive interviews with such celebrities as Miley Cyrus and Seth Rogen.
The Web site launched for beta testers last week, and is set to be open to the general public in the next few weeks.
Snoop Dogg’s marijuanafocused venturecapital firm, Casa Verde Capital, also has been investing in marijuana tech, including California cannabis delivery app Eaze.
