The Jets have given up just one sack this season, and that was on a broken play.

The offensive line has done a tremendous job protecting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, though they say he deserves most of the credit.

“He has a quick release,” guard Willie Colon said. “He doesn’t hold onto the ball. He’s very direct with where he’s going with the ball. He’s considerate of it. He knows where the protection is at. He knows where the hot is coming. A lot of that credit goes to him. He knows where the pressure is coming, he sees it and he gets rid of the ball.”

He was not sacked at all in the first game and just once last week by the Colts.

Rookie wide receiver Devin Smith is expected to make his NFL debut Sunday against the Eagles. He broke his ribs early in training camp and has been working his way back. Offensive coordinator Chan Gailey is curious to see what Smith can do.

“I think you have confidence in the guy, but until you watch them play you don’t know what they are going to do,” Gailey said. “Watching him on the practice field, he has a ton of talent. He just needs to play. At some point, he’ll get his chance. I don’t know if that’s this week, next week, or when it will be, but at some point he’ll get his chance.”

The Jets gave out two game balls to defensive players last week. One was Darrelle Revis, an obvious choice after three turnovers. The other was inside linebacker Demario Davis, who was all over the field.

“With Demario, just thinking off the top, I know he had like nine tackles, three assists, three quarterback hurries,” defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers said. “The guy just played fast. He was all over the place and then we had some different packages in that really fit him. This guy just really played well. In all fairness, in heading into the meeting, we thought a lot of guys would’ve been worthy of a game ball but just as the staff picked it, we settled on those two. We’re really, really high on Demario.”
