When Rachel, 35, met Luis, 36, at Madison Square Tavern in the Garment District, she towered above him in her high heels. But can she overlook his shortcomings? Or is that too tall an order?

When Rachel walked in, my first impression was, “Wow, she is tall” — which I have no issues with. I’m 5 feet, 6 inches, but I’ve dated women who are taller than me. It’s not an issue.

I was just hoping that whoever walked through those doors would be someone easy to talk to, and Rachel definitely was. She’s a very happy person with a great personality. We spent the whole time laughing. She’s also a traveler, which makes her open-minded. I honestly didn’t find anything not to like about her.

I liked the atmosphere at Madison Square Tavern, and I’m planning to go back there again. It’s intimate and classy, and people were very friendly.

After dinner, we walked up to Times Square. We held hands for a few blocks, which was cute. We exchanged numbers and I’m hoping to meet up again for drinks.

Wehad great conversation; we laughed a lot and he was very interested in learning about me. He asked me, “What’s your biggest fear?” and I was like, “That’s a pretty cool thing to ask.” He also asked about my past relationships and seemed very keen on having children in the future, though I wasn’t sure this was the most appropriate first-date conversation.

The wine and dinner at Madison Square Tavern were very good, and it was definitely a place I’d return to.

At the end of the night, we exchanged numbers. Luis is a lovely guy, though I’m not attracted to him. Still, sometimes attraction can develop.
