StunningStun boo$t for Fariña-Bill pal
The politically connected chief of staff to Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña collected a hefty raise after just a year and a half on the job, The Post has learned. Records show that Ursulina Ramirez (left), who worked for Mayor de Blasio when he was public advocate, was hired by the Education Department in January 2014 at $163,000 a year.
She now earns $187,190, a 15 percent hike after just 18 months.
Ramirez is among a group of top educrats — including Fariña — who have won raises ranging from 1.5 percent to 15 percent since de Blasio came into office, according to department documents.
Like other agency heads and commissioners, Fariña received a pay bump of 4.5 percent in September 2014, bringing her salary to $222,182.
The department said the pay increases followed standard procedure in that they were tied to raises awarded to union workers in the latest round of contract settlements.
Fariña’s salary was still less than her predecessors — who earned $250,000, the department said.
“The vast majority of salary raises reflect the established labor pattern all managerial employees received, as has long been city precedent,” said department spokeswoman Devora Kaye. “Any other raise is reflective of increased responsibility.” Yoav Gonen
