Ex found dead days after split
Actor Jim Carrey’s exgirlfriend committed suicide just days after breaking up with the star.
Irish makeup artist Cathriona “Cat’’ White, 28, was found dead Monday night in a home on Briarwood Drive in Sherman Oaks, Calif., sources told The Post.
She is believed to have died from a drug overdose — and left behind a note addressed to Carrey, 53, referring to their Sept. 24 split, TMZ reported.
“I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona,’’ Carrey said in a statement released Tuesday. “She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her.”
White posted a final tragic tweet (left) on the same day the pair split.
“Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest,” she wrote.
The day before, she made a couple of ominous posts on Instagram, including a photo of flow ers and a quote from Irish poet W.B. Yeats: “Faeries, come take me out of this dull world, For I would ride with you upon the wind, Run on the top of the dishevelled tide, And dance upon the mountains like a flame.”
White, who was the same age as Carrey’s daughter, was found with pills next to her body, according to TMZ. She was declared dead at 8:40 p.m., a rep with the coroner’s office said.
Two concerned pals made the grim discovery.
White first met the twicedivorced Carrey — the star of such flicks as “Dumb and Dumber” and “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” — on a film set in 2012. They dated for a few months before splitting up and then reconciling in May, when they were spotted holding hands strolling the streets of New York City.
Carrey’s last tweet, written Sept. 16, referenced White. He posted a photo of himself at Grand Central Terminal and noted she had taken it.
White moved from a small village in Tipperary County, Ireland, to Los Angeles more than six years ago to try to break into the Hollywood scene as a stylist and actress.
