Shares of the Journal Media Group, publisher of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and several other midsize newspapers, shot up 44.3 percent a day after Gannett agreed to purchase the company for $280 million. Shares closed at $11.96. USA Today owner Gannett will pay $12 a share in cash to acquire all outstanding shares.
