At home having Fun
SHE’S met Cyndi Lauper, Anna Kendrick and Alan Rickman. When she’s not at work, you may catch her dining at the Japanese barbecue joint Gyu-Kaku — or riding her scooter in the alley outside “Wicked.”
Meet Gabriella Pizzolo (right), the new star of “Fun Home.” Since the musical arrived on Broadway last spring, the Schenectady, NY, 12-year-old — known as Gabby to her friends — has understudied all three kids in the show, two of whom happen to be boys.
Now she needs a backup of her own, having taken over Tuesday as Small Alison, a role little Sydney Lucas rode to a Tony nomination before leaving the show after her contract expired. (That 12-year-old reportedly wanted a raise.)
“[Sydney’s] Tony nomination was well-deserved,” Gabby tells The Post. “She worked very hard . . . She was witty and kind and good at making plans.” Did Sydney give Gabby any notes? “No, just ‘Have as much fun as you can, and enjoy it all!’ ”
