FACING PHILS

-

Of course, Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley (above) are waiting for the Mets in the playoffs. Now, we will see if either has enough — or even plays enough — to make a difference.

Rollins lost his starting shortstop job to Corey Seager, who is one of the wild cards in this series. He has appeared in just 27 games, but produced a .986 OPS to wrest the position from Rollins. But Rollins will get into this series. Seager had five errors in his brief time up and so Rollins could play defense late and there are probably a few at-bats for him, as well. In a year in which Rollins had just a .643 OPS with 13 homers, he was at 1.252 with three homers in just six games against the Mets. It is something about that uniform.

In a season in which he had just a .629 OPS and eight homers, Utley had a .963 OPS and two homers in nine games against the Mets. Howie Kendrick might start games, but Utley also will get his opportunities.
