Paxton Lynch and the upstart Memphis Tigers showed that their highscoring offense can work against anybody — even a nationally ranked opponent from the mighty SEC.

Lynch threw for 384 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Tigers over No. 13 Mississippi 3724 Saturday in Memphis, in a convincing victory that showed they might just be the best team in the country that isn’t in a Power Five conference.

Memphis (60) has won 13 straight games dating back to last season, the third longest streak in the nation. It was the first win for the Tigers over a ranked opponent since 1996.

The rankings may say this game was an upset, but the Tigers didn’t appear overmatched.

Ole Miss (52) jumped out to a 140 lead less than six minutes into the game — partly thanks to a 68yard touchdown pass by receiver Laquon Treadwell on a trick play — but Memphis re

Baylor’s only regularseason loss last year was 4127 at West Virginia, and the Bears wound up the first team left out of the initial College Football Playoff.

But this time, Coleman matched and then broke the singleseason school record for TD catches, his nationleading 16 coming halfway through the regular season for the Bears (60, 30 Big 12).

Seth Russell became the only Baylor quarterback other than Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III in 2011 to throw for 300 yards and run for 100 yards in the same game. Russell was 20 of 33 for 380 yards and five TD passes and ran 14 times for 160 yards with another score.

Iowa 40, Northwestern 10

In Evanston, Ill., reserve running back Akrum Wadley ran for 192 yards and tied a school record with four rushing touchdowns to carry No. 17 Iowa over No. 20 Northwestern.

With leading rusher Jordan Canzeri sidelined in the first quarter with an ankle injury, Wadley, who had only eight carries coming into the game, took over for Iowa (70, 30 Big Ten).

Wadley scored his third touchdown on a 2yard run with 6:42 remaining in the third quarter, extending Iowa’s lead to 2310. His recordtying fourth scoring run came on a 4yard run.

Northwestern (52, 12) turned the ball over three times and lost for the second straight week after five consecutive victories.

Toledo 63, Eastern Michigan 20

In Toledo, Ohio, Phillip Ely threw for 327 yards and four touchdowns as the No. 22 Rockets improved to 60 for the first time since 1997 with the win over Eastern Michigan.

The Rockets (60, 20 MAC) led 286 at halftime, and then Ely really warmed up. He threw touchdown passes on Toledo’s first two possessions of the second half, connecting with Corey Jones for a 55yard score and then with Cody Thompson on an 88yarder four minutes later.
