A man opened fire at an annual ZombieCon gathering in Florida, leaving one man dead and five others injured, authorities said.

The shooting sparked a chaotic scene, with thousands of attendees dressed as zombies running from the large outdoor plaza in downtown Fort Myers on Saturday at around 11:45 p.m., according to The NewsPress.

Officials from the Fort Myers Police Department on Sunday identified the deceased as 20yearold Expavious Tyrell Taylor, an Okeechobee resident who was also a football player at ASA College in Miami, the news Web site reported.

Four others were taken to the hospital with nonlifethreatening injuries and one additional victim refused medical attention, authorities said. No information about the other victims was immediately available.

Minutes after the shooting, police began evacuating crowds of convention attendees in zombie costumes and cleared out local bars as the search for the killer got under way.

The shooter was still being hunted by cops, who called on anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to come forward.

The annual ZombieCon event was expected to draw more than 20,000 fans.
