Trump: I woulda stopped 9/11

- Marisa Schultz

Donald Trump said Sunday that the 9/11 hijackers wouldn’t have gotten into the US to destroy the World Trade Center if he were president in 2001.

“I’m extremely tough on people coming into this country. I believe that if I were running things . . . I doubt that those people would have been in the country,” Trump said on “Fox News Sunday.”

The hijackers all entered the country legally. All but one of the 19 hijackers had business or tourist visas, and one other had a student visa.

The comments follow an interview last week where Trump suggested former President George W. Bush was partly to blame since “the World Trade Center came down during his reign.”

Trump said he wasn’t playing the blame game — but took issue with Jeb Bush insisting his brother kept the US safe.
