Bizarro Bernie

- Marisa Schultz

Bernie Sanders’ assessment of Larry David’s impersonation of him on “Saturday Night Live”? Pretty, pretty good.

The Democratic presidential hopeful (top, at the debate) could barely curb his enthusiasm Sunday, saying he’d like to take the “Seinfeld” cocreator (above as Sanders) on the campaign trail with him.

“I think we’ll use Larry on our next rally,” Sanders quipped on ABC’s “This Week.”

David’s impression included deft exaggerations of Sanders’ antiestablishment stances.

“If you don’t mind, I’m going to dial it right up to a 10,” David as Sanders starts off and then yells: “We’re doomed. We need a revolution!”

Like Sanders, David is Brooklynborn — David from Sheepshead Bay, Sanders from Midwood — and nailed his accent, hoarse voice and outrage over billionaires.

“I don’t have a super PAC. I don’t even have a backpack,” David said as the “SNL” Sanders. “I own one pair of underwear. That’s it. Some of these billionaires have three, four pairs.”

David also nailed Sanders’ antibank views.

“Not a fan of the banks,” David’s Sanders said. “They trample on the middle class. They control Washington, and why do they chain all their pens to the desks? Who’s trying to steal a pen from a bank? Makes no sense!”

Hillary Clinton recharged her campaign Tuesday with a strong debate performance, but it was Sanders who had the biggest line of the night: “The American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn emails!”
