Infant in carjacking

Three thieves swiped a car left running outside a Subway sandwich shop in Long Island on Monday, but quickly ditched it after finding an infant strapped in the back seat.

“We’re thinking [one of the thieves] said, ‘Hey, whose kid is this?’ They parked the car and took off,” Suffolk Police Inspector Robert Brown told The Post.

The 4monthold girl, Zuriel James, had been left in the car by her aunt, Gail Solomon. Solomon, 43, had kept the vehicle’s engine running as she popped into the Bay Shore Subway on Union Boulevard at around 8 a.m.

As Solomon walked out of the store, she saw a man who appeared to be in his 50s jump in the front seat and drive away.

“She’s horrified because . . . there’s a 4monthold strapped into the back seat,” Brown said.

The thieves then picked up two other people waiting a block away.

Cops discovered the vehicle abandoned a quartermile away about 15 minutes later.

“We thankfully found the baby unharmed,” Brown said.

Solomon was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Cops are searching for the thieves.
