DA to quit briding time with Waldorf wed shooter
The drunken guest who accidentally fired his gun during a wedding at the WaldorfAstoria in June — wounding four people — is finally expected to face charges.
Klutzy liquorstore owner Vladimir Gotlibovsky of Brighton Beach had his 9mm Ruger in his pocket when it discharged during the milliondollar nuptials of bride Anna Goldshmidt.
He panicked and is accused of slipping the gun to his brother, who allegedly turned it over to their mother, sources said. The mom gave it to Gotlibovsky’s wife, who allegedly went home and locked it in the family safe, sources said.
Manhattan Assistant DA Joshua Steinglass has been assigned the case, sources said. He prosecuted the motorcyclists who in 2013 at tacked an SUV driver on the West Side Highway.
He is expected to seek at least a recklessendangerment charge against Gotlibovsky from a grand jury, sources said.
“There’s definitely reckless endangerment here be cause even though [Gotlibovsky] had a permit, he put [the gun] in his pocket, not a secure place,” a source said.
Those involved in the alleged coverup could also face charges, the source added.
