Misjudging New York’s Thugs
l There’s a story about a gangbanger released on a $1,000 bail — after he was arrested twice within 10 days for weapons possession (“Junkjustice judge,” Dec. 7).
I have a feeling he didn’t purchase these firearms legally.
Every time we have a shooting in this country, demands are made for tougher gun control. After the Sandy Hook shootings, Gov. Cuomo pushed through the SAFE Act in record time. I have two questions: 1) Who are these gun laws for?
2) Why have them if a judge like Genine Ed wards is going to let a known gang member walk free ? Michael Murphy

l How could Judge Edwards grant $1,000 “pocket money” bail to Junior Regis?
It’s difficult to believe, but even harder to doubt that politics tainted this judge’s lamentable decision. Bill Burton

lNew Yorkers can only hope and pray that the next lowlife caught with an illegal gun has the good fortune to be put into an idiotic judge’s jurisdiction. Not. Maybe the crooks can write thankyou notes to the judges.
Regis’ capture was thanks to good police work — the cops seeing him put “something” in his waistband.
These judges want the cops to wait until the perp is practically waving his gun around in public before being approached. Joanne Urban
