No. 5 Virginia outlasts California in OT

London Perrantes made a 3pointer with 10 seconds remaining in overtime Tuesday night and No. 5 Virginia survived a poor shooting night and beat California 6362 for its ninth consecutiv­e victory.

Anthony Gill led Virginia (101) with 17 points, freshman Jarred Reuter had 11 and Perrantes and Malcolm Brogdon each had 10, but the Cavaliers made just 21of54 shots (38.9 percent) and never led until just 1:04 was left in regulation.

Michigan State 99, Oakland 93 (OT)

In Auburn Hills, Mich., Bryn Forbes scored a careerhigh 32 points and No. 1 Michigan State (130) needed overtime to beat Oakland (74), the Spartans’ first game without the injured Denzel Valentine.

Iowa State 81, Cincinnati 79

In Cincinnati, Abdel Nader hit a 3pointer with 11 seconds left that put No. 11 Iowa State (101) ahead, and No. 22 Cincinnati (103) missed three shots in the closing seconds, allowing the Cyclones to hold on.

George Mason 71, Wagner 60

In Fairfax, Va., senior guard Dwaun Anderson tossed in a career

high 21 points but Wagner fell.

Boston College 64, Fordham 55

Antoine Robinson scored 14 points as Fordham lost at Barclays Center.

UC Santa Barbara 80, Iona 76

In Las Vegas, Michael Bryson had 29 points as UC Santa Barbara held off Iona in the South Point Classic.

In other local action, Ameen Tanksley scored 20 points with four 3pointers and grabbed 11 rebounds as Hofstra beat Florida Atlantic 6854; Carson Puriefoy made six 3pointers and scored 25 points as Stony Brook topped Lehigh 7562; and LIU Brooklyn defeated Incarnate Word 6659.
