Yule-fire ma ‘sad’ for her ex

- Danika Fears

The mom whose three little girls and parents died in a Christmas blaze responded to her ex-boyfriend’s claim that she was the one who left a bag of hot ashes in her Connecticut home — but stopped short of denying his story.

“I feel sorry for him,” Madonna Badger (above) told NBC News. “I feel incredibly sad for him.”

Badger, through a spokesperson, declined to comment further.

In a deposition, Badger’s then-boyfriend, Michael Borcina, insisted he lied to investigators when he told them he transferred the ashes, which he thought were cold, from the kitchen to the mudroom, the Hartford Courant reported.

He said he’d accepted the blame to “protect” Badger and “to spare her from carrying the burden that maybe she had done something to hurt her family.”

Investigators believe the ashes started the 2011 fire.
