Vet West headed to Warriors

A person with knowledge of the negotiatio­ns told the Associated Press that David West is headed to Golden State on a one-year deal to try to land that elusive championsh­ip.

The two sides came to an agreement Tuesday, one day after star forward Kevin Durant chose to go to the Warriors. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the contract cannot be signed until Thursday.

West left some $11 million on the table last season when he opted out of his contract with Indiana to try to get a title with the Spurs. He averaged a career-low 7.1 points per game and the Spurs lost to Durant’s Thunder in the Western Conference semifinals.

The 13-year pro has never won a title. MAVERICKS: Dirk Nowitzki’s new contract will give the forward a chance spend 20 seasons with the only franchise he has ever played for.

The Mavericks and Nowitzki have reached agreement on a two-year, $40 million contract, a person with knowledge of the deal told the Associated Press. Nowitzki will have a player option in the second year.

The person also said the Mavericks have agreed to a two-year, $6 million contract with freeagent guard Seth Curry, the younger brother of two-time MVP Stephen Curry.

HORNETS: Center Roy Hibbert and point guard Ramon

Sessions agreed to terms with the Hornets, a person with knowledge of the situation told the Associated Press.

Hibbert will receive one-year deal worth $5 million and Sessions will get a two-year deal worth $12.3 million with a team option for the second season.

SPURS: A person with knowledge of the deal said the Spurs traded Boris Diaw to the Jazz for point guard Olivier Hanlan.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Tuesday because league deals do not become official until Thursday.
