MLB: Pirates’ Kang in sex assault probe

Chicago police said they’re investigat­ing an allegation of sexual assault against Pirates infielder Jung Ho Kang.

In a statement Tuesday, police said a 23-year-old female reported being assaulted by Kang inside a hotel. Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said the Chicago woman met Kang through a dating app. Kang invited the woman to his hotel room on June 17. The woman said she blacked out, then drifted in and out of consciousn­ess as he sexually assaulted her. The 29-year-old Kang has not been charged.

Rockies rookie shortstop Trevor Story is among the players on the final vote list for the All-Star Game that fans can select from on MLB.com and via the individual team websites. The voting runs through 4 p.m. EDT Friday.

Devils forward Kyle Palmieri, was among 24 NHL players who filed for salary arbitratio­n Tuesday. Palmieri will be expecting a hefty raise after leading the Devils in scoring last season with 30 goals and 27 assists in his first year with New Jersey. ETC.: Vols settle suit for $2.48M

The University of Tennessee is paying $2.48 million to settle a lawsuit filed by eight unidentifi­ed women who said the school had violated Title IX regulation­s and created a “hostile sexual environmen­t” through a policy of indifferen­ce toward assaults by athletes. Lawyers for the school and the plaintiffs issued a joint press release Tuesday announcing the settlement.

Gerardo Martino resigned Tuesday as Argentina’s national team coach, just over a week after the team lost in the final of the Copa America. Martino took over in August 2014 and his team lost two finals to Chile in the Copa America in 2015 and 2016.

German rider Marcel Kittel claimed the fourth and longest stage of the Tour de France after a mass sprint in Limoges. Kittel, who returned to the Tour with a new team after injuries and illness ruled him out last year, managed to hang on and edge French rider Bryan Coquard in a photo-finish.
