Israel’s Unlikely ‘Partner’

-

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ party Fatah had an important boast to share on its Facebook page last week: It has “killed 11,000 Israelis.”

Mind you, these are the Palestinian “moderates” who the world expects Israel to treat as a “partner for peace.”

Translated from Arabic, the post reads: “For the argumentative . . . the ignorant ... and for those who do not know history ... The Fatah movement killed 11,000 Israelis.”

Fatah also claimed to have “offered 170,000 martyrs,” while hundreds of its followers are sitting in “Israeli occupation jails.”

It’s all part of Fatah’s push to improve its image with Palestinian voters, as the Pales- tinian Authority looks to hold its first election in more than a decade. Fatah’s arch-rival, Hamas, accuses Abbas and Co. of being insufficiently thirsty for Israeli blood.

Of course, Palestinian schools and staterun media have taught those voters to demand blood — to believe that the only path to Mideast peace involves Israel’s extinction.

Yet it’s the Israelis who routinely get blamed for the failure of the “peace process.” And criticized for pointing out the truth about their supposed “partners.”

Meanwhile, France is launching a major new push for an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal. Reality, you see, is never allowed to impede the “peace process.”
