NYPD bigs’ ‘fine’ dining

- Michael Gartland

Two high-ranking NYPD chiefs and one former chief have agreed to pay fines of $1,500 each for accepting high-priced steak dinners from former Queens Library CEO Thomas Galante, it was announced Monday.

Galante was fired by the library’s board in 2014 for his lavish spending.

NYPD Chief of Housing James Secreto admitted to chowing down on the library’s tab on four occasions in 2012 and 2013 — at Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, Quality Meats and San Pietro, all in Manhattan, as well as at Christo’s steakhouse in Astoria, Queens.

“I accepted gifts in the form of meals,” Secreto said in a written settlement with the city’s Con- flicts of Interest Board.

It’s a violations of the City Charter for municipal employees to accept gifts worth more than $49.

The per-person price per meal came out to about $154 at Wolfgang’s, $151 at Christo’s, $124 at San Pietro and $145 at Quality Meats.

Former NYPD Transportation Bureau Chief James Tuller supped with Galante and Secreto four times, and Queens North Borough Commander Diana Pizzuti joined them on three occasions, with Galante picking up the tab for her husband once.
