Receiving more bad news: Knee injury has Enunwa listed as questionable vs. Pittsburgh

- By HOWIE KUSSOY

It may only get harder for Ryan Fitzpatrick to break out of his funk.

The Jets — already without Eric Decker (shoulder) and probably without rookie Jalin Marshall (shoulder), who is doubtful — could have another significant absence in the receiving corps for Sunday’s game at Pittsburgh after Quincy Enunwa missed Friday’s practice with a sore knee.

Enunwa, who leads the team with 23 receptions, is listed as questionable. He had not been on the injury report previously in the week. A source said the in- jury is not believed to be serious and there is a good chance Enunwa plays.

But if the Jets are missing three of their top four wide receivers (Brandon Marshall would be the exception), rookies Robby Anderson and Charone Peake would be in line for huge increases in playing time. Anderson and Peake have combined for 76 yards on seven catches this season.

With so few established pass-catchers available, newly acquired tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins could make his Jets debut.

Coah Todd Bowles said a decision hadn’t been made about whether Seferian-Jenkins would be activated.

“He can’t do what Quincy does. He hasn’t been here long enough, [can’t play] different positions,” Bowles said. “We’ll keep him in his package. … If we’re gonna end up playing in that package a lot, he may be active. We’ll discuss it. If not, then he may not be. He’s been fine in practice. He’s coming along pretty good.”

Se fer ian-Jenkins wasn’ t sure yet whether he would play, but felt ready to contribute.

“I feel very confident with what I’ve done in practice,” Seferian-Jenkins said. “What I’ve been asked to do, I feel good about.”

Darrelle Revis (hamstring) is doubtful to play Sunday. Rookie cornerback Juston Burris is expected to see more snaps in place of Revis.

Right guard Brian Winters (concussion) is listed as out. Bowles said Brent Qvale and Dakota Dozier have been taking reps at right guard and both will “probably play,” with the coach expecting improvement from Qvale following a full week of preparation.

“He graded out OK,” Bowles said of Qvale’s play last week. “Some things you’d like to have back. You don’t get the full-time reps in there [and] gets to plug in there. There’s a learning curve as far as playing guard full time. He fought in there. That was the main thing. Just gotta clean up some things.”

Quarterback Bryce Petty (shoulder) and tight end Braedon Bowman (knee) also are listed as out.

Running back Matt Forte, coming off a seasonworst 27-yard performance on 14 carries against the Seahawks, is averaging just 3.6 yards per attempt, but Bowles said he doesn’t believe the slip in production is Forte’s fault.

“There weren’t too many holes for him to go through,” Bowles said. “He’s the same.”
