Teen gang attacks woman in Central Park

A pack of teenage muggers punched a 56-year-old woman in the face in Central Park and then swiped her Gucci purse and cash, police said Monday.

The victim told cops she was near the carousel at the 65th Street Transverse and Center Drive at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday when she was attacked.

According to police sources, the Manhattan woman said a group of four teenagers wearing dark-colored clothing suddenly jumped her, punching her in the head, knocking her to the ground and then kicking her.

The thugs then snatched her purse — with $500 inside — and cellphone before fleeing, cops said.

Police searched for the attackers but didn’t find them.

The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. She didn’t want to look at photos of possible suspects, cops said.

Some parkgoers said Monday that they wouldn’t be caught alone in the park at night.

“It’s dangerous and dark, and females are vulnerable,” said Sarah Severance, 55.

Stephanie Wong, a 24-year-old student, was angry at the teens.

“I feel like crime is everywhere, but it’s sad to see teenagers do that,” she said. “Like, what are you doing with your time on a Sunday night? Get a life.”

Major crimes in the Central Park Police Precinct are down so far this year compared with the same period in 2015, NYPD figures show.
