Don victory in Michigan is official
Donald Trump officially won Michigan on Monday, making it the last state to call the election, even as the Green Party demanded recounts there, as well as in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
Trump won with 2,279,543 votes — 47.6 percent — 10,704 more than Hillary Clinton’s 2,268,839, or 47.4 percent.
That brought his Electoral College tally to 306 to Clinton’s 232.
Green Party candidate Jill Stein Monday petitioned for a hand recount of Michigan’s 4.8 million votes. State election officials said the recount will begin Friday and Saturday once Stein produces $3.5 million to cover the cost.
Stein also filed a lawsuit in Pennsylvania seeking a recount, and plans to do so in Wisconsin as well.
“Petitioners have grave concerns about the integrity of electronic voting machines,” the suit claims, according to Philly.com
Team Clinton has said it would support the Green Party effort.
Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, meanwhile, said Trump should put up or shut up about his claim that there was widespread voter fraud.
“All I say is when you make an allegation, put proof behind it,” he told NBC’s Richmond affiliate.
Trump claimed Sunday that millions of people voted illegally and that California, New Hampshire and Virginia experienced “serious voter fraud.”
