LetL the Basel begin!

-

TTHE art world’s elite has already arrived in Miami for this year’s Art Basel fair, which officially kicks off Thursday. Before then, Diddy — not one to miss a reason to celebrate — will get the attendant party scene going with a kickoff bash at Rockwell on Wednesday night. Meanwhile, this year’s installment of the annual soiree thrown by director David Lynch’s Parisbased cultural club Silencio — which traditionally teams a contemporary artist with musicians — will feature an “immersive event” in which A$AP Rocky and Michele Lamy will perform live to a video by artist Caecilia Tripp. Not surprisingly, the splashiest affair of the week belongs to Madonna, who will be performing a private benefit concert for her Raising Malawi charity on Friday, and has roped in James Corden as her emcee. Chris Rock and Sean Penn are expected to make appearances, and the evening promises “music, art, mischief and performance.” New York’s MoMA and PS1 will take over the Delano South Beach on Friday for their yearly bash, this time playing hosts to fashion designers Hood by Air. And A$AP Rocky will be back on the scene Friday, holding his own dinner and private party with Rosario Dawson at the Surf Lodge Bungalow pop-up. The WomWomen in Art benefit returns for the fourth year to the fair, this time at Faena Bazaar to honor Mickalene Thomas as “one the art community’s foremost voices for feminist art.”
