Dems Playing Defense: Protect O’Care at All Costs
Democrats preparing to defend Obama Care from the GOP’s plans to repeal.
When the Affordable Care Act was instituted, we heard the false mantra, “You can keep your doctor” (“It’s D.O.A. for O’Care,” Jan. 5).
President Obama’s meeting with Sen. Charles Schumer to help thwart the GOP’s plans to dismantle it is too little, too late.
Just look at the statistics: Under Obama, Democratic Senate seats have slipped from 55 to 46, House seats have fallen from 256 to 194, governorships have fallen from 28 down to 16 and state legislatures plunged from 27 to 14.
Maybe if Washington politicians would begin to live among their constituents, the people might give them a second chance. Joseph Campbell Port Washington
Those responsible for passing Obama Care should be mandated to buy their insurance through the exchanges. They should all have to deal with the high costs, narrowing networks and bureaucratic mess that comes with it. After all, they’ve forced it on others — all in the name of “helping” them.
That includes Schumer, who previously criticized his own party for pushing Obama Care on the American people (after fully supporting it), Rep. Nancy Pelosi and all of their Democratic colleagues. Gary Mottola Brooklyn
If Schumer is so adamant about saving Obama Care, maybe the Democrats in Congress should participate in it.
The arrogance of passing legislation like this and then saying they’re immune from certain provisions, is why they’re so out of touch with average Americans. Leo Nadolske Mamaroneck
How ironic that Schumer is claiming that the repeal of Obama Care will make America sick again.
