NHL: Devils down Canucks in OT on Hall goal

Taylor Hall scored 1: 28 into overtime to lift the Devils to a 2-1 victory over the Canucks on Sunday in Vancouver, British Columbia. Skating on a 2-on-1 with Damon Severson, Hall chose to hold the puck and beat Canucks goalie Jacob Markstrom through the legs. Kyle Quincey scored the tying goal with 3:03 left in the second period and Cory Schneider stopped shots to help the Devils win their second straight after losing four in a row.

NBA: Westbrook nets 20th triple-double

Russell Westbrook had 36 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for his 20th triple-double of the season and the Thunder beat the Kings 122-118 in Sacramento, Calif. Kent Bazemore scored 24 points, Mike Dunleavy added 20 and the Hawks won for the eighth time in nine tries, beating the Bucks 111-98 in Atlanta. Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokoun­mpo finished with 33 points.

NCAA: Indiana hands Rutgers 7th straight loss

James Blackmon Jr. scored 16 points and OG Anunoby 11 points and seven steals to lead Indiana past visiting Rutgers 76-57. It was the Scarlet Knights’ seven consecutiv­e loss.

In Greenville, N.C., No. 22 Cincinnati beat East Carolina 55-46 on for the Bearcats’ eighth straight win, behind 16 points and 11 rebounds from Kyle Washington.

In Boulder, Colo., Chimezie Metu scored 24 points, including a go-ahead hook shot with 29 seconds remaining, and No. 25 USC held off Colorado 71-68.

Despite concerns raised after sustaining season-ending neck injuries in consecutiv­e years, Bills starting safety

Aaron Williams is preparing to resume his playing career, the player’s father told the Associated Press.

Harlem native Mohamed Bamba, a consensus top-five recruit considerin­g Duke, Kentucky, Michigan and Texas, and Kentucky signee Nick Richards of Queens were selected to the McDonald’s All-American game Sunday night. The showcase will be held at the United Center in Chicago on March 29, and televised live on ESPN. On the girls side, Danielle Patterson, a Notre Dame recruit from The Mary Louis Academy in Queens, was selected.

In Johannesbu­rg, Graeme Storm beat Rory McIlroy on the third playoff hole in the SA Open. McIlroy is going for tests on his back Monday to make sure he is fit enough to play Abu Dhabi beginning Thursday.
