Berkeley Burning: Leftist Meltdown Over Milo

-

UC-Berkeley, the birthplace of the free-speech movement, decided to create a riot over Milo Yiannapoulos because he expresses a viewpoint that was different from what the leftists there think (“Berkeley’s Bullies,” Editorial, Feb. 3).

What a sad night for the United States. I always thought universities were supposed to be places where a diversity of ideas and viewpoints was encouraged.

I guess that’s no longer the case.

I used to believe that liberals were tolerant of other points of view. I guess they’re only tolerant if the other person agrees with them. Roger Gilmore Westbury

Lefties and liberals care more about people than those mean old Republicans. They care so much that when they get wiped out in an election, on both the federal and state levels, they resort to blocking traffic, setting fires, wearing masks and throwing rocks at the cops.

The good news? These so-called protesters do their damage mostly where they live — in Democratic-run cities and safe-space universities like Berkeley. The rest of America simply yawns and turns the channel. Pete McArdle Yorktown

I haven’t heard any responses from California Gov. Jerry Brown or House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi about the disgusting protest and riots at UC-Berkeley.

Rumor has it that Vladimir Putin is establishing an endowment for violent protesters at the University of California. The money will pay their tuition, if they keep up the violent protests against freedom of speech.

Methinks the university would be better placed in St. Petersburg or Moscow, rather then Berkeley. Skip McGrory Garden City

Can someone tell me why people are allowed to set fires, destroy property and threaten to kill President Trump ?

I’m 60, and have been involved with a few protests over the years. I don’t have anything against civil disobedience, but there was nothing civil about these protests in Berkeley. Dennis McKeon Staten Island
