HOCKEY: USA team wage deal

USA Hockey and the women’s national team reached an agreement to end a wage dispute and avoid a boycott of the world championsh­ips on home ice. The deal was finalized Tuesday night and announced in a joint statement just three days before the tournament begins in Plymouth, Mich.

Patrik Laine scored in a shootout and the Jets rallied from a twogoal deficit to beat the Devils 4-3 at Prudential Center in the makeup of a game that was postponed by a snowstorm earlier this month.

The Nationals said President Donald Trump declined an invitation to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before their game on Opening Day. A spokeswoma­n for the team said Tuesday the White House said Trump would not be at Monday’s game at Nationals Park against the Marlins because of a scheduling conflict.

NCAA: Mason leads All-Amer.

Kansas senior guard Frank Mason III was the only unanimous selection to the 2016-17 AP All-America team. The rest of the team includes guards Josh Hart of Villanova and Lonzo Ball of UCLA, plus forwards Caleb Swanigan of Purdue and Justin Jackson of North Carolina. At the Garden, Josh Okogie scored a game-high 22 points to lead Georgia Tech to a 76-61 win over Cal State Bakersfiel­d in a NIT semifinal. In the second semifinal, Kenrich Williams scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half to lift Texas Christian to a 68-53 win over Central Florida.

ETC.: Eagles ink DE Long

The Eagles agreed to terms on a two-year contract with defensive end Chris Long.

Tight end Jason Witten has signed a four-year contract extension that virtually guarantees he will spend his entire career with the Cowboys.

Lionel Messi was banned by FIFA from four Argentina World Cup qualifiers for verbally abusing an assistant referee during a home qualifier against Chile last week. The ban began Tuesday as Argentina lost to Bolivia, 2-0.
