Bannon, Priebus on the ‘firing’ line

-

President Trump is mulling a shake-up of his senior White House team that could include ousting chief strategist Steve Bannon, according to reports Friday.

Bannon was booted from the National Security Council on Wednesday.

But he recently told an ally he won’t quit his chief-strategist position — and Trump will have to fire him if he wants him out, according to New York magazine.

Bannon opposed Thursday’s airstrike in Syria — a point of contention with Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law — because it doesn’t advance Trump’s “America First doctrine,” the site reported.

The crisis in Syria has made Trump more eager to remove any drama from his West Wing, The Wall Street Journal reported.

White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus could also face replacement, a top Trump aide told Axios.

But a White House official said reports of a shake-up are “false” and “driven by people who want to distract from the success taking place in this administration.”
