Trump shuts modeling biz
The Trump Organization on Friday started telling clients it is shutting down its 18-year-old modeling business.
The company, in a statement, tied the decision to close Trump Models to the 2015 sale of the Miss Universe Organization — the company that operates the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants.
Page Six reported on Friday that several women, including Mia Kang (right), were leaving Trump Models.
Kang, the half-Korean, halfBritish model who was in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue this year, is joining Women/360, Page Six reported.
“On the heels of the recent sale of the Miss Universe Organization, the Trump Organization is choosing to exit the modeling industry,” the company, based on Spring Street in Soho, told The Post.
The Miss Universe Organization was acquired by WME/IMG September 2015. At the time, presidential candidate Donald Trump split with NBCUniversal, which had aired the contest for years, after Trump made controversial comments about Mexicans.
“While we enjoyed many years of success, we are focused on our core businesses in the real estate and golf industries and the rapid expansion of our hospitality division,” said a Trump Organization spokesperson.
The business has repped star models including ’ 90s supermodel Tatjana Patitz and ’80s luminary Yasmin Le Bon, among others.
Among the other models whose careers the agency helped were Katie Moore, Hollie-May Saker, Tiana Tolstoi and Zhenya Mygovich.
