Reyes’ bat remains missing for Mets

- By MIKE PUMA

PHILADELPHIA — The Mets are offering a reward for information that will lead to the arrest of Jose Reyes’ captors.

After the Mets third baseman went hitless in four at-bats Monday and dropped to 1-for-27 (.037) for the season, manager Terry Collins was enlisting help from all corners.

“I have got the FBI looking for the real Jose Reyes right now,” Collins said after the Mets’ 4-3 victory over the Phillies. “He’s being held someplace.”

Even so, Collins isn’t ready to give Reyes a seat on the bench.

“I think you have got to let him work through it,” Collins said. “Today he took batting practice off, because we thought he had been swinging too much. We all know he’s just too good a player to continue to struggle and I think when he breaks out you’re going to see a different lineup.”

In seven games, Reyes has struck out nine times.

Juan Lagares could be activated from the disabled list by the end of this weekend, according to manager Terry Collins. Lagares, who has been sidelined with a strained oblique, played five innings Monday for Single-A St. Lucie — he finished 2-for-3 as the starting center fielder — and will rest Tuesday. The plan calls for Lagares to play seven to nine innings Wednesday and then appear in consecutive games thereafter. Once Lagares is activated, the Mets will have to decide whether to keep Michael Conforto on the major league roster.

Jeurys Familia is expected to pitch in a minor league game Friday as he builds up for a return from his 15-game suspension for violating MLB’s domestic abuse policy. Familia, who is scheduled for a return to the Mets on April 20, threw 40 pitches Sunday in extended spring training. ➤ The Mets signed Cody Decker to a minor league contract, according to an industry source.

Ty Kelly was claimed off waivers by the Blue Jays and assigned to Triple-A Buffalo. Kelly was designated for assignment by the Mets last week.
