NBA offers ‘a--hole’ fan no relief

The NBA commissioner’s office on Friday informed Knicks seasonticket holder/heckler Mike Hamersky it can’t help him in his feud with owner James Dolan.

More than a week after Hamersky was denied from renewing his partial season-ticket plan at the first deadline, the NBA finally got back to the fan whom Dolan called an “a--hole’’ during an in-your-face tirade. The incident occurred outside the Garden when Hamersky, an attorney from Astoria, screeched, “Sell the team, Jim.’’

Dolan’s security force then attempted to ban Hamersky from the April 4 game against Chicago. Dolan showed no remorse, telling Deadspin: “I did call him an a--hole because he is an a--hole.”

On April 11, a deadline to ensure renewing Knicks seats, Hamersky’s account was frozen, his emails and calls to his individual season-ticket agent going unreturned.

In an email correspondence from the NBA to Hamersky, Mike Bass, Adam Silver’s right-hand man, wrote the league does “appreciate your interest in the NBA and your allegiance to the New York Knicks” and called him “a passionate fan.’’

However, Bass continued, “With respect to the issuing of season tickets, that is a matter that has always been handled by our individual teams in their discretion.”

Bass also wrote the incident will “not change the league’s long-standing policy of leaving individual ticketing decisions and policies to its teams.”

In response to an inquiry from The Post, the NBA stated, “there is no precedent for us getting involved in a matter like this.”
