VAL: YES – I HAD CANCER

Reverses denial

- By DAVID K. LI

Val Kilmer has revealed that he is “healing” from cancer — after strongly denying he had the disease when friend and fellow actor Michael Douglas let the diagnosis slip last year. Kilmer, 57, made the revelationtion during aan Ask Me Anythingthing chatcha with fans on the RedReddit Web site. “A while ago, MichaelMi Douglas claimedc you had terminalt cancer,” one fan asked. “What wasw the story behind that?” “HHe was probably trying to help me cause pressp probably asked where I was these days, and I did have a healing of cancer,” Kilmer wrote back.

“But my tongue is still swollen altho healing all the time. Because I don’t sound my normal self yet people think I may still be under the weather,” he added, without elaborating.

Rumors had been swirling about the “Batman Forever” star’s health after a photo showed him with a tracheostomy tube last year and another emerged of him looking frail while out in Santa Monica, Calif., in February (above).

And Douglas, who himself battled oral cancer, appeared to confirm the rumors last October, when he told a Q&A audience in London that the actor was “dealing with exactly what I had” and that “things don’t look too good for him.”

Kilmer, who starred with Douglas in 1996’s “The Ghost and the Darkness,” replied at the time with a denial on Facebook.

“I love Michael Douglas, but he is misinformed,” he wrote in a lengthy post, adding that he had “no cancer whatsoever.”

Kilmer also used Wednesday’s chat to dismiss rumors that he and Tom Cruise clashed while filming “Top Gun.”

“He was a sweet heart,” Kilmer wrote. “We were all quite rowdy me and all the real flyboys and the actors, so I actually felt a little sorry for him cause we all had time to play and date the cute extras and zoom around San Diego in muscle cars, but Tom was always in some scene and never got to play with us.”

Kilmer also revealed that he would like to give Broadway a shot with childhood pal Kevin Spacey, also 57.

“He and I have reconnected and I’m sure one day we will rip up Broadway and fulfill a childhood dream,” he wrote. Among Kilmer’s other tidbits:

Does he still own buffalo? “Alas i had to sell them in 2008 as I suffered in the crash like so many other honest Americans because of the perverse greed of Wall street.”

Breakfast for dinner or dinner for breakfast? “Depends on who you wake up with.”

His love of pizza: “I have tried almost every kind in the world. There is no bad pizza.”
