CANNIBAL COP IS SIMMERING

‘I’ll never shake this nickname’

“Cannibal Cop” Gilberto Valle must be starved for attention.

The former NYPD officer — who was accused of conspiring to capture, kill and cook women but eventually exonerated — recently sat down for a TV interview and pretty much stuck his foot in his mouth every time he spoke about his dark past.

Valle claimed he was just your average meat-and-potatoes guy, living “a normal typical American life,” before his flesh-eating fantasies were exposed.

“I’ll never be able to shake this nickname, the ‘Cannibal Cop.’ That’s going to stay with me forever,” Valle griped to “Crime Watch Daily” in an interview that airs Tuesday on WPIX-TV.

The ex-officer claimed that he was a victim in the ordeal.

“People don’t choose the things they’re aroused by,” Valle said. “Everyone has their own thing. People don’t choose it.”

When show host Chris Hansen asked the clean-shaven ex-cop, “You talked about kidnapping women, putting them in a suitcase?” Valle admitted, “Yeah.”

“Delivering them for gang rape?” Hansen continued, eliciting another nod from Valle.

“Then killing them, cooking them and eating them?’’ Hansen asked, adding, “This isn’t normal.”

When Valle hemmed and hawed at that last statement, Hansen conceded, “For a cop.”

Valle retorted, “Would it matter if I was a plumber or if I was an accountant?”

“But you were a cop,” Hansen noted.

A Manhattan jury found Valle guilty in 2013 of plotting canni- balism. During his trial, jurors saw stomach-churning images from his computer hard drive, including one of a naked woman being roasted on a spit.

He visited fetish sites and chatrooms under the pseudonym “Girlmeat Hunter,” browsing them after finishing his night shift with the NYPD.

A judge later exonerated the Queens resident, finding that he trafficked only in fantasies and not in actual cannibalism.

Valle boasted in the new TV interview that he was a “very good husband,” even though he fantasized online about throwing his wife in a van, raping her while forcing her friends to watch and then tossing them all in a human-sized oven.

The couple, now split, have a young child.

Valle ended the interview with an apology to his ex-wife, who hasn’t spoken to him since she turned his computer over to the FBI.

“Uh, I’m just so incredibly sorry that this all happened,” he said. “You know, I wish we had our old life back.”

People don’t choose the things they’re aroused by. ... Everyone has their own thing. People don’t choose it. — Gilberto Valle
