Month of misery

-

About the only good thing coming out of Sunday’s loss is that the Mets can finally turn the page on April. Here’s a look at some of the things that went wrong before the end of the first month: Yoenis Cespedes is on the 10-day DL after straining his left hamstring Thursday — his second game back after missing three games with a similar injury. Steven Matz has yet to pitch as he battles what the Mets are calling elbow discomfort, but he says is a strained flexor tendon.

Seth Lugo has a partially torn UCL, an injury he suffered after his first appearance with the Mets upon returning from pitching for Puerto Rico in the WBC. He and Matz are throwing in Port St. Lucie, with a chance to be back by the end of May.

Matt Harvey in back-to-back starts had to pitch a day earlier than expected. The first time, he shined in place of Jacob deGrom, who was battling a stiff neck. The second time, filling in for Noah Syndergaard, he struggled mightily, then bristled about pitching on short notice.

The chronically injured David Wright is on the 60-day DL with a shoulder impingement.

Lucas Duda suffered a hyperextended right elbow April 19 and is on the 10-day DL. There’s still no timeline for his return.

Wilmer Flores is on the DL with a knee infection, but could be back this week.

Curtis Granderson is stuck in a 3-for-45 slump, dropping his average to .128 — the worst in baseball for any player with enough at-bats to qualify for the batting title.

Closer Jeurys Familia started the season on a 15-game ban for violating the league’s domestic-violence policy and has been a shell of himself upon returning, walking six in five innings. Since a 16-inning win in Miami on April 13, the Mets went 3-13 to finish the month at 10-14.
