Courtney crashes Met bash

-

VOGUE had a few unexpected guests at their “Midsummer Night’s Anime” pre-Met Gala party at Grape and Grain in Alphabet City on Saturday. Sources told Page Six that rocker Courtney Love was one of the crashers at the wine bar and complained there wasn’t enough booze.

“She wasn’t invited. Frances Bean [ Cobain] was invited, and Courtney took her seat. Some people were annoyed Courtney was there, but she was still greeted warmly. She was the biggest celebrity there, so she kind of saved the party,” an insider told us.

We’re told that despite crashing the bash, Love was furious the open bar didn’t offer hard booze and only served Moët & Chandon Champagne and Heavensake sake. “She complained that they were only serving Champagne and sake. She wanted a real drink,” our spy said.

Vogue’s creative digital director Sally Singer hosted the #LastSaturdayInApril party at the East Village hideaway and community garden on Sixth Street between Avenues B and C.

Love wasn’t the only crasher at the event. A beloved local East Village artist and “neighborhood scallywag” named Mr. Pitts showed up with his flask in hand and refused to leave.

“Security tried to turn him away, but the garden staff overrode them because the garden must stay open to the public. He told them he was a citizen of the neighborhood when they tried to turn him away. Then he got in line to get free Moët with the models. They couldn’t kick him out. He was holding court on race relations,” the source said.

Some of the guests who were invited included Marc Jacobs, Alexa Chung, Rick Owens, Priyanka Chopra, Mickey Boardman, Lynn Yaeger, Hari Nef, and Alexis Tiganila. DJ Charlie Klarsfeld provided the tunes for the dance party in the garden.

A rep for Vogue insisted that Love was on the guest list. “Courtney and Frances were both invited, and we loved having her.”

As for Mr. Pitts? “I don’t know about Mr. Pitts, and I am about to go back to the Met,” the spokesperson said. Love’s rep did not comment.
