Send Abbas a Message: US Won’t Ignore Terrorism
I urge President Trump to withdraw his invitation to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas (“PA Terrorist Coddler,” PostOpinion, Stephen M. Flatow, May 1).
In 1996, when Abbas’ mentor, Yasser Arafat, came to New York, it was Mayor Rudy Giuliani who had the moral rectitude and courage to have Arafat evicted physically from Lincoln Center.
Until Abbas changes the Palestine National Charter calling for the destruction of Israel, stops funding hate education in Palestine Authority schools and stops paying salaries of terrorists who murder Israelis, it is immoral to allow this terrorist into the United States.
Let Abbas prove his good faith through actions, not false promises, before he is treated like a dignitary worthy of being a guest in the White House. Helen Freedman Manhattan
I hope that President Trump will explain the reality of a new Middle East to Abbas during his visit at the White House.
As long as Israel remains strong and united in what has to be done to make peace, the Palestinians will have to accept reality. It’s time to correct the pipe dreams. Toby Willig Jerusalem
The Taylor Force bill currently before Congress would cut American foreign-aid funding to the Palestinian Authority if it continues to give stipends to the families of terrorists (“No More US Cash for Terrorists,” Editorial, April 22).
The Palestinian Authority no longer shows in its budget how much money goes to these stipends, but the distribution of these funds encourages further terrorism and impedes the chances of peace. Arthur Horn East Windsor, NJ
The fair “political gripes” referred to in The Post’s editorial are not what motivates the Palestinian Authority.
Abbas, in the 12th year of his 4-year term, could easily have addressed and resolved any legitimate concerns without spilling blood.
Stipends and the incitement of hatred are driving Palestinian terror.
Is it really that hard to stop funding pay-to-slay money, and if it is, what does that say about the United States? Julia Lutch Davis, Calif.
