City merit$ ‘road rage’
Taxpayers will have to shell out an extra $9.2 million to fix the city’s bumpy roads because the Department of Transportation refused to fix a clerical error, The Post has learned.
Carlo Lizza & Sons says it accidentally wrote it would provide a 5 percent bond rather than the required 10 percent bond, while offering a $79.7 million bid. The company said it tried to fix the mistake, but was appeal was rejected. Instead, the DOT gave the contracts to the next lowest bidders, at $88.9 million.
