Doc ‘heats’ up Cannes

-

MICHAEL Moore is discreetly directing a new doc on President Donald Trump to be called “Fahrenheit 11/9” — a play on the title of his 2004 George W. Bush doc, “Fahrenheit 9/11.” (The 11/9 refers to the date Trump became president-elect.) Harvey and Bob Weinstein said Tuesday they’ve acquired world rights to the new film, which they’ll shop at the Cannes Film Festival, which kicks off Wednesday. Their announcement revealed that Moore’s “currently directing” the new film, “which he has kept under wraps for many months.” Liberal gadfly Moore said of his Trump film, “No matter what you throw at him, it hasn’t worked . . . That all ends with this movie.” The Weinsteins previously put out “Fahrenheit 9/11,” which made $222 million. In 2011, Moore sued the Weinsteins in a multimillion-dollar dispute over the profits, but the suit was settled amicably in 2012. The 2004 movie premiered at Cannes. Last year, Moore put out “Michael Moore in TrumpLand,” which played only one night in theaters and was sold to TV and digital outlets.
