Clever kid’s brief roamin’ holiday

A 3-year-old boy in a diaper unlocked the door to his Brooklyn home and slipped out early Friday, wandering nearly half a mile before he was spotted by patrol cops and reunited with his worried parents.

The toddler, who sources identified by his f irst name, Azam, was spotted by the cops at the corner of Lexington Avenue and Stuyvesant Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant at approximately 5 a.m., sources said.

“They see the little guy standing on the corner in a diaper, so they scoop him up and take him to Woodhull Hospital,” a police source said.

The little boy was in fine health, sources said.

But his parents were nowhere to be found.

Then, a little after 8 a.m., the child’s panicked father called 911 to report him missing, sources said.

Police went to the family’s home to pick up the mom, who told them that her son “somehow unlocked the apartment door and made his way out,’’ sources said.

She told officers that she and the child’s dad had last seen the boy at about 3:40 a.m.

The little guy walked about four blocks — four-tenths of a mile — from the area of Marcus Garvey Boulevard and Gates Avenue, sources said.

Cops found nothing suspicious in the house and brought the mom, 38, to the hospital to be reunited with her son, sources said.

The city’s Administration for Children’s Services was called, as per protocol, sources said.

“We have to do our due diligence when the safety of children is involved,” the source said.

But cops don’t believe the case was criminal.

“The mother made a reference to needing to have an additional lock installed on the door that would be higher up,” the source said, adding that the child stands just over two feet tall.

Thankfully for the tot, the night was warm, dropping only to a low of around 75 in the borough.
