Trump in the Crosshairs After Talking to Russians

THE ISSUE: President Trump’s meeting with Russian officials in which he allegedly shared classified info.

-

When The New York Times and The Washington Post publish accusations from anonymous sources about President Trump’s meeting with Russian officials, the Democrats screamed for and got a special counsel (“Trump in Q and ‘nay’ on Russia,” May 19).

President Barack Obama was once recorded telling Russia’s president that he would have “more leeway after the election.” Was this not collusion with the enemy, warranting a special counsel? Art Messenger Scarsdale

By revealing highly classified information to an adversary, Trump may well have given a warning to ISIS. He may also have blown the cover of one of our principal allies in the Middle East, Israel.

The information could easily be passed to Iran, Israel’s arch enemy. It is doubtful whether Israel will share additional intelligence now.

Trump’s behavior on the national-security stage is reckless and shows a total disregard for the security of the country . Jagjit Singh Los Altos, Calif.

By all means, if Trump is found guilty of anything untoward, then he should be punished.

Without proof, however, what is the point, other than to satisfy the media’s insatiable desire to belittle and deride Trump? Is this not un-American? Aren’t they condemning him as guilty until proven innocent?

Trump was honestly elected by the American people. With all the trouble going on in this world, is it really smart to spend our time destroying ourselves from within without giving this man at least a chance to prove he’s up to the job? Jack McGrath Bronxville

The left’s hysteria over Trump allegedly sharing intel with Russia is beyond hypocritical.

The onslaught of the media’s biased coverage, full of leaks from anonymous sources, is desperate.

As per usual, the Democrats are not concerned whether their hysteria is affecting the market, embarrassing us internationally or obstructing progress in Washington.

This behavior is selfserving. They certainly do not have America’s best interests at heart, and that’s exactly why Trump was elected. Angel Pittinger Central Valley

I had assumed that Trump would grow as president, but unfortunately the opposite appears to be occurring. The recent intelligence disclosure to Russia, implying where it came from, has placed the Israeli informant at risk, while supplying the enemies of Israel with critical information.

It’s enough that the president has been erratic not only in his domestic pol- icy but also matters of foreign policy. If our president cannot be trusted, who in his government can be? Nelson Marans Manhattan

After the details of a closed-door meeting between Trump and Russian officials got into the press, I’m left wondering who’s leaking information.

Time to stop using “unnamed sources.” From where I sit, the unnamed source is nothing more than the media fabricating stories to promote an agenda. Barry Levy Hawthorne, Calif.

Trump discussed combating ISIS with Russian officials for the sake of both our countries and the world.

President Harry Truman advised Joseph Stalin that America was in possession of the atomic bomb, and what does everyone think President Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill and Stalin met about: Parcheesi strategies?

This hysteria is more of the media’s ongoing hit job on Trump. The media downplay Democrats’ flaws while embellishing stories against Trump. David DiBello Brooklyn
