Tweet Your Heart Out: Trump’s Online Resistance
President Trump is right to say it’s absurd to investigate his alleged “obstruction” with no evidence of a crime (“Stop Digging, Mr. President,” Editorial, June 16).
It’s also absurd that former FBI Director James Comey “cleared” Hillary Clinton of obstruction, even though she destroyed 32,000 e-mails, violated subpoenas, etc.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller must do more than “get a handle” on leaks about Trump, Jared Kushner, et al. He must denounce such leaks and warn leakers and those who disseminate that information they will be prosecuted.
Failure to denounce such leaks is aiding and abetting them. Let the leakers understand this is a serious crime. Joseph J. Santora Manhattan
Trump has to become more presidential.
He can start by eliminating those tweets and letting his press secretary deal with the press.
He should depend more on his great staff to help him. John Herman North Babylon
As a supporter, I encourage Trump to tweet to his heart’s content because he must defend himself against the relentless, vicious attacks.
The Post’s editorial said Mueller needs to resolve this matter quickly and fairly. Mueller has no deadline to complete his work and plenty of freedom.
In the eyes of the media, it’s Mueller’s mission to investigate Trump as long as he has to and to eventually outline the reasons to begin impeachment proceedings. This investigation is no longer about Russian collusion in the 2016 election.
There are no signs that this investigation will be fair to our president, who is correct when he says this is nothing more than a political witch hunt, and the leaks will continue.
Our president is not being treated fairly, and it’s about time we express our outrage and demand these investigations cease. J. J. Cravatto Ramsey, NJ
The president must stop his spontaneous comments to the press, the tweets and the disconnect from his communications staff, or the storm cloud over his head will turn into a Category 5 tornado. Robert Neglia The Bronx
How can Trump possibly tweet himself into a big jam if this Russia-Trump campaign collusion story truly is nothing but a witch hunt, as the evidence thus far has shown?
And let’s be fair, it was downright fishy for Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to appoint Comey’s old pal and FBI predecessor as the special counsel overseeing the investigation. That has “giant conflict of interest” written all over it. James Hyland Beechhurst
