Southampton gets an alcohol-sugar high

- By JENNIFER GOULD KEIL jgould@nypost.com

Surely Southampton’s summer crowds wouldn’t mind a little alcohol alongside — and maybe inside — their daily doses of chocolate and candies.

Sugarfina has opened a 1,100-square-foot pop-up boutique at 68 Main St. that includes its first “Rosé All Day” candy lounge.

Hot items include a line of gummies infused with Provence rosé, encased in 24-karat gold leaf.

The cocktail candy line also features champagne bears with Dom Pérignon vintage bubbly, single malt scotch cordials and peach bellini gummies. Sugarfina, which opened its first retail store in Beverly Hills, Calif., in 2013, now has 25 US retail locations and boutiques inside 15 Nordstrom stores. Southampton’s upscale Mexican joint, Union Cantina, has added a tequila bar this summer.

400 Rabbits Tequila Bar is hidden behind the back of the restaurant, at 40 Bowden Sq., like a Prohibitionera speakeasy.

It carries more than 100 types of tequila, poured neat and into cocktails, from classic and frozen margaritas to The Warren, which blends 1942 Don Julio, Grand Marnier and Centenario tequila with fresh lime juice.

Union Cantina proprietors Ian Duke and David Hilty also own the Southampton Social Club.

Mamoun’s, a midnight munchie destination for New York University kids that claims to be the city’s first falafel joint, is opening a new location at the foot of the George Washington Bridge.

The 1,614-square-foot space will be in Fort Lee’s new Hudson Lights complex, a 1 million-square-foot luxury development from Kushner Real Estate, Tucker Development and Ares Management.
