One pal’s age lie sets off chain reaction on ‘Younger’

- —Andrea Morabito

KELSEY Peters (Hilary Duff) has spent the past three seasons of “Younger” ambitiously climbing the corporate ladder at Empirical Publishing with her colleague and friend, Liza Miller (Sutton Foster). So when Liza revealed in the Season 3 finale that she’s not 26 years old, but 40 with a college-age daughter, Kelsey suffered a major shock. As Season 4 picks up, she is smarting from the betrayal of trust — which drives her to commiserate with Liza’s heartbroken ex-boyfriend, Josh (Nico Tortorella).

Duff, 29, spoke to The Post about what else to expect in the new episodes.

How does Liza’s bombshell revelation affect Kelsey?

The thing that I really love about Season 4 is we all kind of ended on bad terms [in Season 3]. I’m not roommates with [Lauren] anymore; that ended kind of strange. My boyfriend basically broke up with me because he thought it was getting too serious. [Josh] and [Liza] are in a bad way. Everything is really stirred up, it’s very real. In previous seasons, we haven’t really had fights or too much conflict between the characters. The first half of this season really starts off with a bang.

How does the rift between Liza and Kelsey spill into the office?

It’s a big betrayal. What Kelsey has to lose is so much bigger than outing Liza — it’s losing her company. Liza’s a big part of Empirical and [Kelsey] is not about to let anything happen to Empirical. She keeps it under wraps for now.

Trailers seem to be teasing Josh and Kelsey getting closer this season. How does that relationship develop?

There’s a big shocking twist there that I can’t give away. But they do find comfort in one another’s company; they both have been lied to by someone they really cared deeply for. Kelsey makes a move — not on Josh — that is really bold, and you would be like, ‘Wow I can’t believe she did that.’ It’s not really that wrong, but it’s pretty bold. She’s such an instigator.

The fashions on “Younger” always look great. Do you have any favorite outfits this season?

I wore this pink Gucci dress to a funeral. It was a really funny episode where [Kelsey] finds this old-lady author dead in the bathroom at this restaurant. I also wore this really cute purple dress with this giant yellow flower on it. That was our Beyoncé night. It was really cute; it looked like it should be a top, but it was actually a dress.
