Outrage doesn’t ‘suit’ Beadle

-

THE NEXT time ESPN’s

Michelle Beadle plays her outraged, female broadcast journalist hand to counter sexism — she hammered Charles Bark

ley for it — consider this: Beadle recently distributed via Twitter another photo of herself in a bikini. What’s the point? Why does she feel they’re important to share with the public? Or is she another selectively indignant female broadcast journalist phony working both sides for attention?

Or perhaps ESPN, which could end it, insisted on it.

Pete Flynn, the Mets’ 50-year groundskeeper/ character who died last week at 79, in 1975 did what no other man in his position was ever charged to do: He was the groundskeeper for four big league teams in one season.

With the former Yankee Stadium being renovated and now-departed Giants Stadium being built, Flushing not only held the World’s Fair globe, it became the center of the universe. The Mets, Yanks, Jets and Giants all played in Shea Stadium, Pete Flynn at the wheel.

Flynn at least didn’t have to worry about postseason play. None of the four qualified.

Seems Mike Francesa isn’t made of the stuff that would allow him to bow out graciously or grace- fully. Last week, as per reliable sources, another inhouse screaming match, this one with WFAN boss

Mark Chernoff, whom Francesa apparently blamed for losing a headto-head ratings period to

Michael Kay’s ESPN-NY radio show. Chernoff, we’re told, shouted back.

But how can we expect Francesa, such a bad winner, to be a good loser?

And to think Chernoff helped “lose” those post-9/11 tapes in which Francesa parlayed the Islamic terrorist attacks to conclude that the loyalty of American Jews should be questioned. For that cover-up, Francesa should always be indebted to Chernoff.
