Doctor’s gift is MAGAnanimous
When a Brooklyn man was attacked with a broken bottle in a Lower East Side bar over his “Make America Great Again” hat, fellow Trump supporter Dr. Joseph Pober had his back — and his face.
The Park Avenue plastic surgeon was so troubled by the July 7 beatdown that he fixed Jovanni Valle’s face for free.
“This is something that had to be done,” Pober said. “It’s freedom of speech that is being attacked and assaulted . . . I can’t imagine that anyone in America would viciously assault you, break your nose and slice your face with a broken beer bottle.”
Valle, an uninsured 26-yearold right-wing activist also known as “Jovi Val,” was bashed over the head during a 3:30 a.m. brawl at the Bulgarian bar Mehanata on Ludlow Street.
Valle received 15 stitches at the ER.
A few days later, Pober’s office manager spotted an online video of Valle’s plight and alerted the doctor.
On July 14, Pober per- formed surgery to reduce Valle’s nose fracture, drain a blood clot and re-suture the laceration on his cheek, which, he said, “was gaping open.”
Pober said Valle needs two more surgeries, but he will gladly cover the costs.
His office estimates he has already provided $30,000 in medical services.
Valle said he was “overcome” by Pober’s gesture.
“I just couldn’t believe it. I was astonished,” he said.
Valle said he went to Mehanata with about 15 friends after attending a book party for Milo Yiannopoulos’ “Dangerous.”
Valle said he was dancing when “my hat fell off ” and bar patron Emma Rodriguez stepped on it and told him, “I hate this hat, I hate you.”
Valle said that when he placed his hand on Rodriguez’s shoulder, her boyfriend, Leonardo Heinert, 25, attacked him from behind.
Cops charged the couple with assault, and both were released without bail, records show.
