Vic’s mom: I pleaded with him to leave her
A Brooklyn man was stabbed to death by his unhinged girlfriend with a serrated kitchen knife — just a day after his mother begged him to walk out on the relationship, the distraught mom said Sunday.
“I told him Friday, when I was sitting here with him, that he should leave her,” Ramel Patterson’s tearful mom, Patricia Scott, said after Octavia Elliot was taken into custody.
“Her life was messed up — he just wanted to help her. My baby . . . Why’d she kill my son?” the mom sobbed.
But the 33-year-old man refused to leave, his mother choked. “He said, like any other person would, he loved her and was trying to help her out.”
“She was selling her body — yes she was,” Scott, 49, said through tears. “She was prostituting.”
Patterson was found lying in the hallway of a building at the Roosevelt II Houses in BedfordStuyvesant with a single stab wound to his neck around 3:30 a.m., according to police.
A neighbor had called 911 after hearing screams coming from the apartment the couple shared.
The victim was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he died.
Elliot, who allegedly has a history of violence against men, was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
The scene was roped off, but a trail of blood could be seen leading from the door of the fifthfloor apartment to the elevator.
“He was trying make it up to my apartment, from the fourth floor to the ninth floor where I was,” Patterson’s grandmother Hester Gorham said.
“If he had made it, I’d have went down there and whooped her damn ass, throw that bitch down the steps and stomp her damn ass,” Gorham said.
“[Ramel] was my baby. He had been good to everybody. Only thing he did was just love them motorcycles.”
“I just think of him riding them motorcycles — telling [me] he loved me,” Scott added, breaking down. “He loved everybody. He was loved by a lot of people because he was a nice kid.”
Police found the murder weapon lying on the ground just outside the building. Cops believe Elliot tossed it out the window before officers arrived at the scene.
Elliot has 10 prior arrests, including a 2013 case in which she was charged with stabbing her baby’s father — a different man — multiple times with a screwdriver, officials said.
Records also show a 2007 assault, in which she got into a fight with a man as she was rolling a joint and smashed him in the head with a bottle of Colt 45 malt liquor, cops said.
She also has a 2014 arrest in Nevada for stabbing her child’s father in the hand with a knife, according to the Pahrump Valley Times.
She was awaiting arraignment Sunday evening.
