WANNA stat? From reader J.T. Merwin: Connie Mack’s first year in big league baseball was 1886. His last, as manager of the Philadelph­ia A’s, was 1950, which was Vin Scully’s rookie year as a Dodgers broadcaste­r. Scully retired after last season. Together, Mack and Scully spanned 130 consecutiv­e years of baseball.

William Keegan, Rutgers Class of ’63, recently received an inquiry from RU asking why he no longer contribute­s. His answer: “Since you’re willing to lose 10s of millions of dollars each year chasing a spot in the Pizza Bowl, you don’t need my money.”
