Self-‘exam’ination

TEAMWORK CHARACTERISTICS THIS IS THE NUMBER ONE AREA OF FAILURE FOR FIREFIGHTER APPLICANTS:
Many applicants answering background information survey questions don’t realize that firefighting is a team atmosphere. One of the most important
qualities for a firefighter is the ability to work as part of a team. We expect that this will be one of the main personality characteristics that will be highlighted in background information questions. It is extremely important that you always emphasize the team and not your individual accomplishments or selfishness. A firefighter must demonstrate an ability to take orders from superior officers, to contribute to efforts of others on the team, to compromise and put the best interests of the team and organization above personal interests and differences.
